The art of making your presence felt in the society.

How ?

Let's face it that if you are a typical shy guy out there and your heart is full of dreams, trying to make it big in the real world I supposed it will definitely be an obstacle for you.

So what are you going to do ?

Continue to isolate yourself from the reality ? Be in your own island and care less about the others ? Being this way forever will not change anything and will lead to a lonely life, in which you will be depressed over about it later on.

You vowed to change, to shed the shyness away and to mingle more.

Friends that you already have, spend more time with them. Ex-classmates, meet up once in a while for a catching-up session. Colleagues, spend more time with them and participate in all those happy hour drinking sessions. Family, though physically they are not near to me, take the effort to make the phone call and talk to them.

The more you are out there, the more you'll be seen. Sometime it's good to just:
  • Nod, nod and smile. Smile to strangers if they are looking at you.
  • When you are in the middle of a conversation with a group of friends, talk to the one that is quiet. Don't keep him/her alone and loop him/her into the chat.
  • Overheard someone talking about an interesting topic, jump in politely and talk together with them. This is not rude, but then one way to make new friends.
At the end of the day, if you can't break the shell, you will forever be the same.

Now, do you want that to carry on ?

*30 minutes to 2 am and I am awake typing this. Perhaps this is the cause to my insomnia and I need to cure this fast. Nitez !

I think the hardest part is finding a space where such socialisation happens naturally, or to find conversations that you can even connect with.

Also, only expand your network when you can take care of your inner circle sufficiently, because we tend to not love them enough.

Communication goes both ways. Sometimes, I feel that I'm trying too hard and no one really cares.

Agree with all, except to spend mroe time with colleagues. Oh, heaven forbid. I already spend more than half a day with them now. No thanks. Haha.

@chaiminhuei: But then sometimes, I feel that I don't belong in there, sick and tired. Hence the dire need to expand the network.

@Deicidal: So again, we go with the flow ?

@Danny: Hmm, what do you mean by that ? You tend to be a "loner" ?

@Vin: I know, but then there are lots of things that can do after work.

Haha, then supposed you would prefer a "me-time" after work.

:)

In a way i kinda agree with chaiminhuei. Then again it's a very broad topic. I guess Xing you are right too... doesn't hurt to have new friends and then we can stick to the ones that clicks. Then shower them with our Love.

Yes, that.
But also, do what you like.

@two horns child: Love will always be there for the existing friends, but then what if it's not being appreciated and cherished ?

@Deicidal: Wokey !
