You dump the old, to make way for the new.
In fact, that's what being taught in life. Throw away the worn-out clothes, in order to make some space for the new ones in the closet. Forget the ex-es, if you want to find new love. Shed off the old mentality and embrace a new prospect in life.
This is how you are going to move forward, achieving greater things for yourself.
Nonetheless, if it's an addiction, able to shed it off and do you make way for a new one ? What if it's a bad addiction replacing another bad addiction ? How would you deal with it ?
Sigh, if only I can control those addictions in life so easily.

Sorry for the rant.
Take it slow, and make sure you don't become jaded by relationships and take it for granted. It's easy to cross that line.
